Flood Projects Secondment Service – Melbourne Water

Rain Consulting provided a secondment within Melbourne Water as a Flood Information Practitioner within the Major Infrastructure Projects team and the Flood Mapping Program team.

The role involved assisting several teams with flood models and flood data requests, particularly for the Major Infrastructure Projects and Flood Mapping Program.

Rain provided the following services.

• Managed flood model storage, acquisition and exchange between internal and external stakeholders
• Navigated a complex database of flood models and flood asset data
• Investigated, documented and compiled the most relevant and up-to-date data to be shared internally and externally
• Strengthened connections and collaboration between the internal waterway and drainage teams
• Addressed flood data ‘Request for Information’ in a timely, accurate and valuable manner

We assisted Melbourne Water with the influx of flood data requests, including system and process improvements to support long-term data integrity. The role facilitated a collaborative working relationship with Melbourne Water, Victoria’s central water authority.
