Rain focuses on facilitation and collaboration to achieve better Integrated Water Management (IWM) outcomes. Our team has a deep understanding of the technical constraints, context, and challenges faced by governments, industries, and businesses.

We see IWM as the way forward in an uncertain water future, making the most of our precious water resources for the environment and society.

Our strategic focus includes:

  • Scalable Projects: Projects can be delivered at multiple scales. Scales are usually parcel, local, precinct, catchment or municipal.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Often, multiple stakeholders will be engaged throughout an IWM project, requiring considered facilitation and collaboration.
  • Quality Outcomes: Thoughtful workshop planning ensures that complex information is presented in an engaging and easily understood manner, leading to better outcomes.

Integrated Water Management Plans

  • Westernport Growth Areas IWM Plan with Marsden Jacob Associates, for DELWP, MW and councils (consulting with Traditional Owners, South East Water, Southern Rural Water and the VPA).
  • Merrimu PSP area IWM optioneering (6000 lots) on behalf of the developer and working with Melbourne Water, the VPA, Moorabool Shire Council and Greater Western Water
  • IWM Strategy for Arden and Macaulay Precincts for the City of Melbourne, working in close consultation with Council, Melbourne Water, Greater Western Water and the VPA.
  • IWM Plan for Merri-bek City Council defined and simplified the subcatchments within the Merri-bek Local Government Area (LGA). Rain collated all previous studies, analyses, policies, strategies, and plans into one simplified source of information. This work identified opportunities and risks related to Integrated Water Management (IWM).

Stakeholder Engagement & Workshops

  • The Westernport Growth Areas IWM Plan involved the participation of many stakeholder organisations. We prepared and facilitated individual meetings with the stakeholder groups.
  • Led the Melbourne Urban Stormwater Institutional Arrangements (MUSIA) project, assessing alternative models to manage stormwater in the Greater Melbourne area. We facilitated one-on-one consultations with every council within metro Melbourne, Melbourne Water, DEECA and the Municipal Association of Victoria.
